Read

Low in calories
The pineapple is very nutritious and low in calories: 40 calories per 100 grams. By comparison, still per 100 grams of fruit, a banana has 92 calories; an apple 64; a clementine 57; a pear 57 and a peach 44.

Low glycaemic index
With less than 11 grams of sugar per 100 grams, the pineapple is a low-glycaemic fruit.

Easy to digest
Packed with fibre, pineapples can significantly aid digestion and boost the metabolism. The pineapple’s specific attributes, which include having low soluble fibre, make the fruit particularly easy to digest_x000B_To maintain the pineapple’s fibre content in its entirety, we recommend consuming the whole fruit (not squeezed).

High nutritional value
From a nutritional point of view, the elements which make up the pineapple fruit are sold separately in the form of pills, such as health supplements.  Why not reap their benefits, directly from the source?

Per 100 grams:

Bromelain, which can be found in the pineapple flesh and especially in the stalk, is used heavily in the diet supplement industry owing to its digestive properties and countless beneficial effects on the organism, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antithrombotic, immunomodulatory, anticoagulant and anti-edema activities.  In a nutshell, the pineapple boasts antioxidant properties, which support the immune system and help to combat inflammation and disease.

Qualities of the pineapple - Nicofrutta Pineapples
Not all pineapples were made equal, of course.  The diversity of the fruit and, as such, of the composition that will determine the nutritional values is in turn determined by the properties of the soil, the climate and the sustenance that enables the pineapple plant to produce the fruit itself.

Nicofrutta is committed to providing customers with high-quality pineapples, whilst caring for small producers and the environment in which their plantations grow.

We use biocontrols and biofertilizers in our plantations in Costa Rica that have been developed by our subsidiary Nicoverde and are registered with the Italian Ministry of Health and Phytosanitary Service. In this way, we aim to keep the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers to a minimum, in complete contrast to our company philosophy

We strongly believe that being more mindful about what we eat and the impact it has on our health and the environment is essential for the well-being of each and every one of us. Nicofrutta’s pineapples are produced for wholesale, specifically for retailers who set rigorous criteria for the quality of the product and its environmental impact.
